hey everyone!
So, it's been a million years since i wrote anything not related to new arrivals, right?
Yeah, lots going on here... i bet there's lots going on with you, too! Thanksgiving (for the US) & lots of holidays coming up, right?
What do you think of the decanted samples? I may be adding some larger decants soon.
After some immersion in the decanting, I have finally got a good rhythm going. I've also learned a few things:
- Don't decant Missoni by Missoni on an empty stomach.
In fact, don't decant more than 3 fragrances on an empty stomach.
Unless you want to feel green and hungover for the rest of the day.
- A corollary of that, is not to decant fragrances before the morning coffee
(or whatever your pick-me-up beverage of choice)- you will get that same green,
queasy feeling mentioned above.
- Make sure you are actually aiming the atomizer at the mouth of the vial- not the other end.
This mace to the face, splashback can easily happen if you are not careful or fully awake.
Surprisingly, this took me 3 eye-scorchers to figure it out before I spray.
I have a whole new appreciation for Fracas. I've smelled it a few times over the years, and (being more of an woody-oriental girl) each time I was like, "Meh. Too sweet. What's the big deal?"
Then after a marathon day of decanting and perfume fatigue was beginning to set in,I made a sample of Fracas and was like, "Whoa! Wait. What is that? That amazingly soothing scent? (sniffing on my hands to find it) ....it is the antidote to this galbanum and leather overkill I am drowning in...... Oh, man. is that Fracas? (spray to the arm, and big sniffff)....... No way! I need more of that in my life! (big spray to my throat).......... I need to wear this like garlic around my neck to fend off the vampires of Paloma and Bandit from eating my soul...a salve to my abraded esophagus...this is the beginning of a beautiful relationship."
So now I finally *get* Fracas.

Oh, here's another lesson learned:
For those who have started a business, or helped someone start a business, you know how you are so excited about the *first* day, the *first* customer, the *first* month? Well, here's one I didn't expect: our *first* credit card fraud. We are not so happy about that one. The experience is actually very traumatic, especially for a small business like us.
Why? Because the bank will take the money from the business in the form of a chargeback *before* you get a notice of the fraud. And in our situation, we were victim to some fairly clever tactics and didn't win our dispute. So yeah. I used to think that credit card fraud just hurt the banks & credit cards, but this was the same as a thief robbing our store. Only they got a lot more money than I would have in the cash register (in the form of perfume). A frustrating and scary experience, to say the least. That cr*p can shut a house down!
So, if our credit card processor makes it difficult for you to complete your order, please be patient. We have increased our security settings, especially for international orders. Just send us an email (info@reirien.com) and we will work with you to figure it out. Another suggestion would be to use Paypal to complete your order.
In other news. . .We will be posting many fragrances on sale over this holiday shopping weekend,
so make sure you check out the
